Our Stories...

“Maplelatte Animal Shelter Society” began as a small foster-based effort alongside a home pet boarding business. Ivan spent three years fostering animals with a rescue group in Edmonton, opening his home to as many as he could. As the number of rescues grew, neighbour complaints and bylaw restrictions made it difficult to continue in the city. Determined to keep helping animals in need, he relocated from Leduc to Beaver County, where he could provide a safer and more spacious haven for them....

December 2nd, 2022

Ivan started a home-based business called Maplelatte Home, offering pet boarding services at Leduc, AB.

While running his business, he joined an Edmonton-based rescue group and began fostering helpless puppies and kittens.

Relocated to Beaver County, AB to continue pet business and foster more animals in a better environment.

Officially titled as "Animal Shelter"

November 17, 2024

Eight puppies were rescued from a local farm in Beaver County after a farmer noticed a vehicle driving around the area and speeding away. When he went to check the spot where the vehicle had been, he discovered eight helpless puppies huddled together, trying to stay warm in the freezing cold. The farmer reached out to Ivan for help, and Ivan safely took in all eight puppies.

Build a great relationship with Queen of Hearts Pet Grooming

Together, we’ve begun preparing to establish a nonprofit organization in Beaver County, all while continuing to rescue more helpless animals in need.

October 2, 2025

After a lengthy application process, Ivan and Chelsea—along with three other big-hearted board members—officially became part of a Non-Profit Animal Shelter and Rescue organization, allowing us to begin our journey smoothly.
