Common Questions
What is included
in the adoption fee?
When we rescue or intake an animal, we always provide the following care:

Basic Vaccinations (DAPPv & Cv for Dogs // HCPCh for Cats)

Deworming (Strongid-T)
-
Flea & Tick treatment
-
General Veterinary Exam (checking ears, injuries, wounds, etc.)
-
EIDAP Microchip (except under 4 months old animals)
Are the animals spayed/neutered?

If we rescue or intake puppies or kittens, we normally wait until they are 6 months old before scheduling their spay or neuter.

If we determine that a newly rescued animal is old enough for the procedure, we schedule a veterinary appointment as soon as possible after the animal has received its initial/basic treatment.
What does
“fully vetted” mean?
It literally means:

Vaccination
-
Deworming
-
Microchipped
-
Spayed/Neutered
However, we do not routinely administer the rabies vaccine unless it is required for your household or necessary for the animal's specific circumstances.​
Can I meet the animal before adopting?
Of Course!
That is one of our recommended steps before adoption. However, you must complete an adoption application first before scheduling a Meet & Greet.
What does fostering involve?
All we ask is that you provide a safe, warm, and loving space for our animals. We will provide you with:

Food

Treats
-
Litter (if you are fostering cats)

Carrier
Do you accept owner surrenders?
We do NOT accept surrenders all the time. You should check our website or Facebook page time to time for whether we take surrenders or not.

If you find an animal that has been abandoned or is wandering on a road or in town, please bring the animal to a safe, secure place if you are able to do so, and complete our “Report Stray Dog” form.

Do you only provide services within Beaver County, or do you also serve other surrounding areas?

We provide our services to several counties surrounding our shelter, including Minburn County and Lamont County. However, our primary focus is serving Beaver County.

If a CPO or bylaw officer contacts us for assistance outside of Beaver County, we normally discuss the situation as a group first before deciding whether we are able to take the animal(s).
What will happen to rescue animal(s)

After we bring the animal(s) to our shelter, we will post a “Lost & Found” notice on our Facebook page, Kijiji, and website for three days to give the owner an opportunity to claim the animal.

If no one claims the animal within the three-day period, we will proceed with the same intake, veterinary care, and adoption process that we follow for all animals in our care.
What do I need to provide to prove that the animal belongs to me?
To help us confirm ownership, please provide:

2 to 3 photos of you with the pet

Recent veterinary records
-
Two references who can confirm your ownership of the pet (name and phone number; references should not be family members)
