Foster Home
Before You Apply to Become a Foster Home (Mass Care), Please Read Carefully
Maplelatte Animal Shelter Society is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals that have been abandoned, abused, or lost. Approximately 99% of the animals in our care are rescues, with only 1% being owner surrenders. Because of their past experiences, some animals may have unpredictable behaviours.
One of the main reasons we place animals in foster homes is to better understand their behaviour in different environments and around different people. Our main shelter does not have children present, so we are unable to fully assess how animals may behave around kids. While we accept dogs of all sizes, the majority of our dogs are large breeds (such as Pit Bulls, Labradors, Malinois, etc.).
We value honest feedback about how animals interact with children in foster homes. However, if you are uncomfortable or fearful about introducing an animal to your children, we strongly recommend carefully considering whether fostering is the right fit for your household before applying.
We provide food for animals during their stay with you. Most of our food comes from donations, and while we closely monitor food quality, there may be times when donated food is close to or past its best-before date. We do our best to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals and appreciate your understanding that we sometimes must rely on what is available.
