“Maplelatte Animal Shelter Society” began as a small foster-based effort alongside a home pet boarding business. Ivan spent three years fostering animals with a rescue group in Edmonton, opening his home to as many as he could. As the number of rescues grew, neighbour complaints and bylaw restrictions made it difficult to continue in the city. Determined to keep helping animals in need, he relocated from Leduc to Beaver County, where he could provide a safer and more spacious haven for them....

November 17, 2024
Eight puppies were rescued from a local farm in Beaver County after a farmer noticed a vehicle driving around the area and speeding away. When he went to check the spot where the vehicle had been, he discovered eight helpless puppies huddled together, trying to stay warm in the freezing cold. The farmer reached out to Ivan for help, and Ivan safely took in all eight puppies.

due to the lack of proper animal control in the county, several people reached out to me for help fostering stray cats and kittens—nearly ten in total.
